Intent:
At Burnham on Crouch Primary School, we want to encourage and nurture a love for languages. We want children to feel excited and proud about learning Spanish and equip them with the skills to communicate confidently with others.
We deliver a carefully planned curriculum, which is taught by a specialist teacher across KS2. Our curriculum is cumulative and provides opportunities for revisiting content taught.
The Spanish curriculum makes cross-curricular links with music, celebrations, festivals and global events, in order to pique children’s curiosity and encourage pathways for further discoveries and learning. It aims to celebrate the cultural differences between Spanish speaking countries and the United Kingdom, building in opportunities to discuss traditions, history and geography.

STEM part 2: Year 5 took part in our first STEM Enrichment session on 13th September. The theme of the day was: Witches and Wizards. The children attended Potions class during the morning where they carried out a range of experiments and then made ice cream and lemonade. Care of Magical Creatures was next , where the children designed, using a CAD programme, and made bird perches for Hedwig using woodwork skills.
