Diversity Day – 4th November 2021
We celebrated Diwali in Year 1! We learned about how Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Light and we explored texts, photos and videos of how Diwali is celebrated. We learned the story of Rama and Sita and how good triumphs over evil. We made Diva lamps and lit them and retold the story in the candle light.
We acted out the story using small world resources, made Diva lamp Diwali cards for our families and designed mehndi handprints too.
We also created firework art work, where we made glittery pictures, sparklers and we went outside and made firework paint flicking pictures! We even made edible sparklers by dipping breadsticks into melted chocolate and adding sprinkles!
