In Science this term, Year 2 have been learning about plants and trees. We started by looking at seeds and the different ways that seeds are dispersed before moving on to thinking about what these seeds will need to grow. We created our own ‘beans in a bag’ and were able to make the beans grow without soil. We also grew cress, mung beans and sweet peas as part of an experiment to see which would grow the quickest. We have learnt about the parts of a flower. We enjoyed dissecting some flowers, looking at, and naming the tiny parts. On our trip to Hanningfield Reservoir, we were able to study leaves and identify different trees in the forest, as well as learning about some common pond creatures when we went pond dipping.
