As a class, we discussed Remembrance Day and the significance of poppies. We talked about why we wear poppies, and how they can act as a symbol of respect and appreciation for all those who fought in the war. We wanted to create some artwork to celebrate Remembrance Day this year, so looked at the work of the artist Georgia O’Keefe. We liked how she painted her flowers so large that not all the petals fit on a page. We discussed the parts of the poppy as we drew the outline and then used pastels to add bright colour to our artwork.
Don’t they look beautiful!
