First, we were given different materials from which we picked out the most suitable materials for building a bridge. We had to discuss and agree on the materials and use scientific language to say why it was suitable.
Then we started to build our bridges using some of the different types of bridges we had seen. We found out that triangles are used because they offer amazing support. We also tried different materials to see which was best for the different parts of our bridges.
Finally, using weights we tested out bridges to see if the properties of the materials we used were suitable for their purpose. We were amazed to see how much weight they could hold! We even tried to sit on one of the bridges!
