ParkRun in the Burnham on Crouch area has been a fantastic addition to the local community over the last few years. Therefore, when it was announced some local legends were going to setup the Junior version, Burnham on Crouch Primary was always going to support and promote this fabulous event.
We were offered the opportunity to lead a “Takeover”, essentially inspiring more children to take part and take an active role in delivering the event on the day. Sunday 25th of September was a super bright and sunny morning! At 8am the wonderful teachers of our school started arriving to help with marshalling and tail walking the event. Then lots of families from our school started arriving in excited anticipation. It was especially great to see some of our past students taking part and supporting our takeover. Mr Proudfoot led the warm-up and got the energy flowing, ready to run! Shortly after 9am the 70 participants flew round the course and perhaps more importantly supported each other to try their very best.
Definitely a great community event, that will only grow over time. The smiling faces from all the participants was a truly magnificent site to see! Our school certainly looks forward to hosting another takeover in the new year.
