School Council
What do we do?
The School Council is made up of pupils from every year group who have been elected by their classmates to represent their views about a wide variety of aspects of school life. Mrs Adrienne Smith, one of our Parent Governors, supervises the School Council who meet every half term. Keeaun Jones, in Year 6, was elected as Chairperson and it is his job to run the meetings.
Our School Council have had a significant positive impact on life at Burnham-on-Crouch Primary School. In 2005, they were awarded the Diana Memorial Award in recognition of their work to stamp out bullying in the playground. Last year’s Council worked with Mrs Tothill to develop our new in-house school meals service, consulting their classes about the menu and dining environment; as a result the number of children having school meals at this school increased to nearly 50%. This year they have made many suggestions for improvement including developing the ‘mound’ into a wildlife area, and organising some Inter-House sporting competitions.
