Eight children across the school were chosen to represent our school in the Growing Communities project managed by the Rural Community Council of Essex. Our keen gardeners were asked use their imagination creatively to design a healthy packed lunch that could be made with produce grown in our school.
They had to think about vegetables, fruit and herbs that could easily be grown and harvested to make a packed lunch and then create a recipe or dish. Once they had decided, they had to name the recipe, draw a picture of the finished dish, write down all the ingredients used, list what is good about their idea and why we should win.
Entries were sent off today and the winners will be announced in March. The winning school will get £750 worth of bedding and seeds to help us start our own vegetable patch. Here are a few examples of their plots.
