Shoes
Children should wear black shoes or sandals with fastenings suitable for young children, e.g. Velcro, buckles. All shoes must have a strap at the back for safety’s sake – no mules or flip flops. High heeled shoes can be dangerous so please check that your child’s footwear is suited to an active environment. Trainers may only be worn if they are completely black in colour ( no coloured stripes / flashes etc.)
P.E.
- Blue shorts
- Coloured t-shirt according to House. (Crouch – yellow, Blackwater – blue, Roach – red and Chelmer – green)
- A school royal blue track suit is available for purchase but is not compulsory. However all children do need jogging bottoms, trainers and a warm top for outdoor PE in the winter.
Jewellery
No jewellery should be worn in school except for a watch if desired.
The school complies with Essex Local Authority Health and Safety legislation with regard to the wearing of earrings. Children with pierced ears may wear small plain studs (gold or silver). Sleepers or large diamonds are dangerous and therefore not suitable for school. Your child should be able to remove their own earrings prior to their P.E. lesson. If they are unable to do this, due to the piercing being less than six weeks old, please could you provide your child with tape or plasters to cover them. We strongly urge parents not to have their child’s ears pierced during term time, but ask that this is done at the beginning of the summer break to allow for healing over the 6 week holiday.
Lost & Found property
There is a ‘Found property’ box in the Foyer which should be inspected from time to time. Unlabelled, unclaimed items are disposed of if not claimed at the end of each half term.
Lost clothing, which is clearly marked with a name, can be returned to its owner as soon as it has been found.
Any items of lost property that are found about the school are handed into the School Office or to the class teacher. If the item is not named and is not claimed within one month, the school will dispose of it.
