2. Expectations
• Children are expected to undertake additional work at home which will consolidate class lessons and / or encourage children to gather information to use in future lessons, or to stimulate their own thinking skills
• Homework should be varied and not purely written work
• Homework will be undertaken independently or supported depending on the work that is set
• Homework will be time limited and motivating
• Homework will be supported and monitored by both parents and teachers
• Homework will be manageable for child, parents and teachers
• Homework will give plenty of opportunities for pupils to succeed
3. Planning and Organisation
Individual teachers within their own year groups will plan homework relevant to their classroom lessons. The homework should be varied and fun so that it motivates and encourages enthusiasm in the children. It should stimulate their learning and foster different study skills.
Homework will be identified alongside planning and unless specifically related to the needs of an individual child will be given consistently within the year groups.
The amount of homework given and the time expectation for its completion will be within DFES guidelines

5. Monitoring and Evaluating
Teachers will ensure that homework is marked as and when it is necessary and use this, where appropriate, to inform future planning.
Children may use a homework book / diary and this will act as a record for all written work undertaken at home.
The ‘Home / Child / School Agreement’ sets out responsibilities for the partnership between home and school for the completion of homework.
Parents / carers are encouraged to provide a suitable place for pupils to do their homework.
