Autumn Term in Reception

Butterfly, Elephant

What a busy term we have had and the children have worked so hard. Our topic for the first half term was ‘All About me’ the children looked at similarities and differences between themselves and others. They learnt to appreciate that we are all different, with different beliefs and opinions, but each of us is valued and respected for who we are.

Our topic for the second half term was ‘All Around The World’, we found out about different cultures and celebrations and how these differ from our own. We made Rangoli patterns, Diwali lamps, tasted exotic fruits from different countries, took part in some fantastic African dancing, found out facts about Arctic animals and had a visit from some beautiful creatures from Australia, Africa and South America. The term ended with the children having a wonderful time at the pantomime.

This term has been a whirl wind of discovery. We wonder what we are going to find out next!

Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
